Gold was discovered in the area in the middle of 19th century. The prospect of a workable seam has always been an attraction and this mine continues to bear just enough to encourage the miners to keep at it.

Sawmill
2008 The Britannia Creek Sawmill will be based on mills in the Yarra Valley, especially my father’s mill which was located in Britannia Creek Rd.

This is part of that mill. Timber was and to a certain extent still is an important industry in the region.
